Abstract

Modern Urdu Poem origins of which flourished in the influence of Anjuman-e-Punjab, a colonial institution, kept absorbing every ebb and flow of the Colonial period for more or less one century. In this article an effort has been made to study the creative impulse of the most potent voice of modern Urdu poem Allama Muhammad Iqbal in a colonial context. The article under view is a modest endeavour to pin point the features of colonial conflict in Iqbal's poetry. The article takes into account the entire body of his Urdu poetic works from the first collection (Bang-e-Dra) published in 1924 to the last (Armughan-e-Hijaz),published in 1938.
