Abstract

The interpretational method of deconstruction is introduced in 20th century by Jacques Derrida. It is against the authority of meaning. However, we see instances of deconstruction in Ghalib's poetry, a poet of 19th century. Ghalib has used deconstruction in different ways in his poetry consciously. He reshaped common ideas in uncommon way. He deconstructed religious, social and civilizational meta-narratives and initialized new forms of conceiving. His deconstructive approach proves him a postmodern poet of 19th century.
