Adeed Magazine Literary Example Shortstory Adab-e-Latif Editor
Abstract
Mirza Adeeb was a very well known short-story and drama writer. But a few people know that he was a successful editor of a literary Urdu journal named Adab-e-Latif. Adab-e-Latif started its publication in March 1935 from Lahore. Mirza Adeeb joined it in September 1935 and introduced it in literary circles. He did a wonderful job and made the journal an organ of Urdu Progressive Writers. He left it in August 1940 due to some unavoidable circumstances. In 1949 this journal was facing crisis and was in a very bad shape. Again Mirza Adeeb offered his shoulders and took the responsibility of its editorship. He remained there till July 1962. During his two times stay Mirza Adeeb introduced many new short story writers and poets who are now big names of Urdu literature. Adab-e-Latif was a trend setter journal but when he left it, it became an experimental lab for many editors to come and go. Still Adab-e-Latif is waiting for some Mirza Adeeb.
