Abstract

Writer of this article has traced a resemblance between Antigone of Greek mythology and Heer, who became a legend in Punjab. Social Scientist and critic Ali Abbas Jallal Puri has pointed out the commonality of these powerful characters in his book"Muqamaat e Waris Shah", which has made them symbol of resistance. Antegone and Heer also refused to submit to those authorities, who deem women a weaker folk just to rise off spring, even if this relationship is enforced.
