Abstract
In this article reviews of Maulvi Abdul Haq's Urdu Dictionary which he compiled on the model of Fowler's Oxford Dictionary of English have been studied. The most original contribution of Maulvi Abdul Haq in the compilation of dictionary was listing of new compound words of Urdu. This list added to the existing treasure of Urdu language. Yet Abdul Haq's critics have been divided in their views about the evaluation of the dictionary. In this article their opinions about Haq's work are systematically examined.
