Abstract

In this paper, I have tried to throw light on Aziz Ahmad 's short stories in historical and cultural context on one hand and his social understanding of Muslim Ashraf Culture in Colonial India  on the  other. Modern Industrial urban city between two world wars  is a wide  stage of his work plan. He leads his reader towards the decline and decadence of Muslim  Ashraf  Culture in his various short stories Aziz Ahmad suggests  that the moral values of the society though, exist, however they were dying due to prevailing moral crisis. In some of his short stories, Aziz Ahmad appears as a historian, while describing the facts through fiction. Social satire is also an important component of his short stories. The principal theme of his short stories lies in dying Muslim Ashraf culture of colonial India.
