Abstract

In order to strengthen their faltering economies, European Nations came out of their frontiers and occupied the vast part of the world to set up their colonies. The impact of colonialism on native culture, language, literature, history, the roll of power narrative and the natural factors acted in favor of colonial powers form the substance of post-colonialism. There were a number of theories on post-colonialism in the west towards the end of 20th century. However, the subject was introduced in Urdu literature only in 21st century. Main content of post-colonialism in Urdu literature comprises indigenous literary and resistance movements and narrative of renaissance in the 19th and 20th century. Paper concludes that Post-colonialism liberated the Urdu critique from the shackles of taken for granted myths and introduced various new strands in the Urdu literature.
