Abstract

In this article attempt has been made to find co-relation between Urdu Poetry, music and 'Arooz'. These three arts each have their own identity, but these three fields are closely linked with each other. Music and poetry are natural arts but Arooz has been invented by human beings. Arooz is the measuring tool for poetry. If the poetry is claded with music it becomes a song and melody. Prose cannot be put into music. Only that poetry can fit into music that has rhythm, harmony and weight, Unmetered poetry cannot fill into music, therefore, a scale must be established to measure the meter. This scale is called Arooz. These three arts despite their being separate entities are joint because of rhythm, temp and harmony. Therefore these three arts are attached together and are inseparable.
