Certain revolutionary movements which influenced art and literature markedly attest the cradle of 20th century. Surrealism is one of such movements that acted on fiction particularly. The unreasonable negative and extremist approach of Dadaism triggered a reaction which resulted into surrealism whose foundation was laid on freudian's theory of unconscious; afterwards, Ande Breton structured its constitution properly. Surrealists considered that the purest form of realism lies in unconscious which should be approached prior to conscious affect it. This article goes over the influences of surrealism on Urdu novel.
