The evolution of Urdu literature in Balochistan is streched over a period of more than a hundred and fifty years. However, no research based and critical effort has ever been made to acertain the chronological order of development of various geners and their authors in Balochistan. This in turn has resulted in the growth of multiple narratives regarding the development of Urdu literature in Balochistan. This article, for thefirst time, critically discusses all existing narratives on the fiirst Urdu novel in Balochistan. And hence, posits that ''Dastan-i-Mujahid'' by Naseem Hijazi is the first ever Urdu novel produced in Balochistan. Further, the article also discusses his earlier Urdu novels in the historical background of Urdu fiction in the province.
