Abstract

Heer Ranjha is one of the most popular folk tales of Pakistan. It is a tragic love story. It is found in several poetic narrations by many Panjabi and Saraiki poets. Saraiki is the language of the central Pakistan and this tragic love folk tale has been written by twenty three Saraiki poets. The Saraiki poets whose Heer Ranjha has gained popularity are Damoodar Das, Chragh Awan, Molvi Noorudin Maskeen, Ahmed Bhukhas Ghafil, Khadim Makhan Bbalvi, Shobha Shujahabadi, Syed Jalal Kaleem and Sheikh Ameer Majroo. In this article, the folk tales of Heer Ranjha by some prominent poets have been introduced with the help of authentic sources.
