Abstract
The significance of historical figures in history has been debated. Many consider their role crucial while others consider they have little impact in human progress and in altering the course of history. The presentation of historical figures in fiction is a difficult job where facts and fancy are combined. Among the historical figures Sultan Muhammad Fatih was one of the greatest figures in history. He conquered Constantinople and brought an end to the Byzantine Empire. This great historical figure has been presented by Pakistani Urdu novelists in their novels. They took care to be accurate when describing what they knew about this historical figure and his action. They tried not to deviate from the history and less relied on their imagination while presenting him in the novel. The present article discusses the accuracy of historical facts cited by Pakistani Urdu novelists while presenting this great historical figure in their novel.
