Abstract

Feminism formulates an integral concept of the feminist movement that promotes gender equality and opposes perpetuation of gender discrimination at economic, social and cultural front. The agenda of this movement includes acting as a platform to counter the social inequality and challenge the political structure, dominant power holders and traditional beliefs or practices. The theme of this article revolves around the analysis of feminist movement with respect to the folk culture and traditions. On one hand, it seeks to revise the identity of women at international level and on the other hand, it enables them to raise their voice to face the modern challenges. The literature is filled with examples, where women have complained of their subdued status, yet it is important to understand that in order to develop a healthy society, it is essential to encourage the growth of individuality amongst women.
