Abstract

In the annals of literary history of Pakistan, Perveen Shakir shines like a radiant star. Her poetry is mostly the expression of felt emotions and personal experiences. Sensuality is the characteristic quality of her poetry. Her romantic poems and ghazals stirred the sentiments of the readers, yet many scientific phenomena can be traced out from her poetry. Although procedures of measuring and evaluating the scientific data and a piece of poetry are widely different yet   thoughts, imaginations, observations experimentations and conclusions are common in both science and poetry. Her poetry not only bears the traces of her personality, subtle emotions and feelings but different scientific phenomena such as Dispersion of Light, Spectrum, Mirror, Image, Reflection and Refraction of Light, Echo, Mirage, Planets, Stars, Galaxy, Blood Circulatory System, Pollination, Antidots, Moisture, Transportation System of Plants, Isotopes, Neutrons, Radioactive Elements, Chain Reactions,  Atmospheric Pressure, Decomposition & Diffusion etc have also been touched upon in a poetic version. The paper argues with different examples of scientific approach in her poetry.
