Abstract

The Urdu short story since it became a part of Urdu literature in the beginning of the 20th century tried to express the society of Indu – Pak subcontinent. After the partition of the subcontinent in 1947 and establishment of Pakistan the Urdu short story tried to reflect the new society of Pakistan and present its problems. The Pakistani woman naturally was – and still - a pillar of Urdu short story , so we can draw a clear picture of the Pakistani woman as a mother , sister , daughter and wife through the Urdu short stories written after 1947 , and this article discusses this topic .
