Abstract
The knowledge of prosody has great importance for every type of poetry. The great Arabic scholar named Khalil Bin Ahmad founded it. In Urdu Language it has come via Arabic. So far as the knowledge of prosody in Urdu is concerned, it has got its foundations in Arabic language. Some prosodic characteristics are common and others are distinct between them. In this brief article, the researcher has tried to highlight and bring out the similarities and differences between Urdu and Arabic.
