Abstract
Traditionally, women's participation in literature was looked down upon. However with the changing world, this outlook also underwent a gradual change as a group of men took up cudgels to fight for women's rights. Women also started contributing to literature in their own names and this led to a free vent of women's feelings and thoughts in fictitious letters. Society gradually accepted this development, until a time came when some literary men's letters were published which were addressed to women. Now when women have entered the field of literature, they are actively contributing to the genre of novel, short story, poetry and criticism. It is high time that women's correspondence should be published along with their literary references.
