Abstract

Undoubtedly, Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi is the name of an era rather than an individual. All his creative works are an important milestone in the satirical and humorous tradition of Urdu literature. Especially his greatest literary masterpiece "Aab-e-Gum", which is in fact a painful lament of the eroded civilization, in which Yousufi, has described in the tone of past aspirations, the problems of the refugees and the defeat of social values and traditions in the dream land of Pakistan after partition of subcontinent. This is something that scribe has tried to portray in the cultural and historical context of migration in a critical and research oriented way with the help of some specific characters of "Aab-e-Gum".
