Tota Kahani: A Reading in the Context of Colonial Narrative

In Urdu literature, translations of many stories were published under Fort William College. “Tuta Kahani” is also a compilation of Syed Haider Bakhsh Haidari of the same period when the European imperialism was making its deep impression on the Indian society and various books were tranlsated written by the Indian writers to understand the thinking perspective of Indian society. In this story the role of British Empire as a colonizer is reflected and the rules and laws that were set up to keep the native indians in slavery. This paper examines these perspectives.
