Abstract

Syed Zamir Jafery holds a distinguished position on the canvas of humorist poetry. He used comic poetry in a well behaved, honorable and gentle manner and expressed his deep insight of life in a very simple and easy mode. He has been a victim of irony of life and cruel behavior of community, but never expressed its shadow on his humorist poetry. He skillfully transformed the bitter situations to a pleasant sweet and salty taste and mounted laughter for his audience or readers and remained reluctant to tease in reaction. He maintains opinion of passing life in pleasant way instead of burning and weeping. So the origin of his humorist poetry is the bitter realities of life. His poetry expresses the miseries in economic, moral and social decline, poverty, illiteracy, old and new civilizations and their negative impacts in a very funny tone. To him this is a very alarming situation and he succeeded in conveying its drastic impacts in a very light and pleasant way. In other words, he presented the bitter realities of life as a sugar quoted tablet.
