Abstract
Majid Amjad is one of the important modern Urdu poet. Due to his humble nature, avoidance of fame, not being associated with any particular literary group, and living in Jhang and Sahiwal, far from literary centers, he was ignored throughout his life. Only one of his poetry collections, "Shab E Rafta", was published in his lifetime. This experience was so discouraging that he did not consider it appropriate to publish any other collection. Some literary figures who loved and admired him tried to preserve and compile his poetry, but due to lack of attention, poor taste, and haste, most of the work appears to be full of errors. In contrast to all of them, Khwaja Zakaria, who was a well-known researcher, critic and poet of Urdu language and literature and also had a close relationship with Majid Amjad, dedicated himself to the arrangement and editing of Majid Amjad's text and not only collected Majid Amjad's poetry from all sources but also arranged it in a scientific manner, ensuring the accuracy of the text. His "Kullyat e Majid Amjad" compiled in historical order became so popular that the work of other compilers was limited to mere historical status. More than a dozen editions of the Kullyat compiled by Khwaja Sahib have been published so far, of which significant changes were made in the fifth edition and partial revisions continued even later. Khwaja Zakaria also arranged two important selections of Majid Amjad and also edited the revised edition of "Shab e Rafta". This article presents an evolutionary review of his services in the editing of Majid Amjad's poetry.
