Abstract
Lexicology is the general study of the vocabulary of languages.It deals with the meanings and uses of words. Lexicography is theory and practice of compiling dictionaries and it studies the lexicon as a research object. Both of these disciplines have something to do with investigation into the lexicon. They are connected with words and their features. Thus they are closely related to dictionary and the process of dictionary making.However they differ from one another in many respects. This article illustrates the differences and similarities in the approaches taken by them as well as providing some definitions.
