Abstract
The pursuit of knowledge is very important for the development of any nation. The people of Pakistan and Japan are deeply interested in each other's literature and culture. The first Urdu center in Japan is the Tokyo University of Foreign Studies, which was established in 1908. Japanese teachers associated with this university are playing a very important role through teaching. Similarly, the second Urdu center in Japan is the Osaka University of Foreign Studies, which was established in 1921. Japanese teachers associated with it are contributing to the spread of Urdu through teaching. Other sub-centers in Japan, including Daito Banka University, Kyoto University and Ote Mon Gakuin University, are playing their role for Urdu literature. Japanese teachers associated with these universities have made efforts to promote Urdu literature by translating the works of famous creators of Urdu literature into Japanese. These translations include fiction, novels, drama, poetry and many Urdu genres. Similarly, in Pakistan, an important role has been played in the promotion of Japanese literature by translating Japanese works into Urdu. Pakistani teachers in Japan, Urdu websites there and Japanese radio "NHK" are working to promote Urdu language and literature.
