Abstract

This  is  an  accepted  fact  that  the  story presented  in  Gulzar-e-Naseem  is  not  written in Urdu.  Naseem  has  reduced  it  visibly  and  he not  only  shortened  it  but  modified  it  at  so  many  places.  Critics  of  Masnavi  have  pointed out  places  in Gulzar-e-Naseem,  where  changes  have  been  made. Rasheed  Hassan Khan  in  his  edited  Gulzar-e-Naseem  has  brought  to  light  such  places  of  the  story  in  much  detail  as  compared to  the  other  critics  of  Masnavi,  but  such  aspects are yet  not studied  that  how  far  these  modifications  and  changes  that  had  been  brought  by  Naseem  are  admirable  in  the light  of  principles  and  requirments  of  the  story  telling.  In  the  present  essay,  I  have  tried  to  explore  the  sense  and  awareness  of  Naseem  as  for  as  the  art  of  writing  of  the  story is concerned.  No  doubt  he  is a  poet  of  Calibre but  as  a  story  teller  where  he  stands, is what has been dealt with in this essay.
