Abstract

In occupied Kashmir Urdu afsana is clearly representing two different schools of thoughts. There are some who wrote on the topics related to political uncertainty, injustice, corruption, unemployment, curfew, agitation, enforcement of emergency oppression of police and army, rape, mission person and robberies. The prominent writers who have written thoughtful afsanas are Noor Shah, Trannum Riaz, Umer Majid, Manzoora Akhter, Zahid Mukhtar and Nikhat Nazar for instance Manzoora Akhter's two afsanas Pakiza Sahara and Jewan Sathi are depicting pictures of sentiment and agitation of Kashmiri Pundits. On the other hand Anad Lahar and Khalid Hussain's favorite topics covered the life of those people who are living near the boundary line. They deeply look into their feelings psychological/mental disturbances and fearful life. Majority of these writers are from Muslim Community. Further Hindu writers like Wrander Patwari, Depik Kanwal, Depik Badki chose the topics which fully endorsed the status of Kashmiri Pundits, who are homeless and forced by the Indian army to vacate their native homeland. Their state of mind and feelings are fully covered by these writers.
