Abstract

The term "Orientalism" was coined for the orient by the Europeans. The Europeans had known the name of the orient since the times of Homer. When they started migrating to the oriental countries due to various reasons, they found these countries richer in natural resources. The abundance of human amenities and the artistic and academic activities attracted the western communities. These occidental communities consider the eastern people inferior but indispensible for their interests. To know about the orient and the oriental studies has become a movement now. Over the years, such movement of the orientalism has become organized and active. This article is based upon the famous book of Edward Saeed.
