Abstract

Saudi Arabia has assumed a great importance of Urdu Language and Literature. Majority of the Pakistani and Indian immigrants in Saudi-Arabia who are settled here for employment speak Urdu. Urdu Mushaira is a great source of growth and development of Urdu Language and Literature. Asian community is always very excited about it. Pakistani and Indian consulates, Asia educational-institutes, schools, literary associations and well-to-do people arrange for these Mushairas. These Mushairas are not only a source of entertainment for South Asian community but these gatherings have attracted Saudi poets too. This article highlights the evolution of Urdu Mushaira as well as the examples of verses of Asian poets and one Arabian Urdu poet.
