Narrative of Partition 1947 in the short stories of Bheesham Sahni and Krishan Chandr

Abstract

The partition of the subcontinent in 1947 is an important event. It has had a profound effect not only on the region but also on the world. The migration and riots that resulted from this division have been viewed differently by different people. But it is the Hindus, Sikhs and Muslims who have suffered the most. Bheesham Sahni is a writer of Hindi language and literature and Krishan Chandr is a writer of Urdu Language and Literature. Although both are Hindus. But both have the readers of different mind sets. This article examines the statements made by two different language and thought-provoking fiction writers about partition, migration and riots.
