Abstract

Bush Rahman is a multifaceted and esteemed figure of Urdu literature. She proved her talent simultaneously in novel writing, short stories, travelogues, and column writing, but her true identity lies in her novels. Her novels feel remarkably close to real life. She is a realist writer who becomes so deeply immersed in her stories that the reader often feels as if she is narrating her own life experiences under the guise of universal ones. Her writings frequently reflect a sense of purpose and a strong inclination toward social reform. There is a rich diversity of themes in her novels. Bushra Rahman’s pen often turns toward the subject of marital life. Through her intelligence and keen observation, she appears to guide and reform the younger generation. On one hand, she possesses a deep understanding of women’s psychology, and on the other, she has portrayed men’s psychology with remarkable skills. Almost like an expert psychologist. She seems to teach both men and women the art of leading a successful life.

“Parsa” is an important novel by Bushra Rahman. The central theme of this novel revolves around Muslim girls marrying non-Muslim men and the issues that arise from such relationships. Although this theme may seem simple on the surface, it is, in fact, quite complex and challenging. Filled with elements of moral and social reform, this novel emphasizes the significance of religion and highlights how emotional decisions can lead to a life full of difficulties. If the decision of marriage is not taken carefully, a person may find himself standing at such a crossroad where reaching the right destination becomes impossible.
