Abstract

The article argues the contributions of Hajra Masroor's short stories in Urdu fiction. Hajra Masroor is, undoubtedly, one of the top ranking Urdu short story writers. Starting a literary career along with her elder sister, Khadija Mastoor, Hajra's insight into middle and lower middle class life and life in the feudal rural areas has produced some great, touching Urdu short stories. In spite of her passion for detail most of her work is enjoyable reading and thought provoking.
